Product Description

Each item is one complete dormant crown, or a field-ready plant, depending on time of year: a plant that is a minimum of 1 growing season old with a well developed root system with multiple breaks taken from healthy vigorous stock.  It is professional quality and since it is a live rooted plant, it offers the best chance of successfully growing and producing your favorite varieties of hops.

A genuine native American hop that is the parent of most high alpha bittering varieties. 1919 cross ManitobaBB1 X English male; an open pollination diploid. High yielding and vigor but keeping quality drops unless refrigerated; when compared to the new hybrid varieties. 24-36” side arms with medium size cones.
  • Alpha Acids: 7-8.5%, bets 2.5-3.5%, cohumulone 36-48%, total oils 1.8-2.4%ml/100g, myrcene 37-40%, humulene 29-31%, caryophyllene  7-7.5%
  • Aroma: black currant, citrusy.

  • Maturity: Later – Late August/ Early Sept.
  • Beer styles: English Ales, Lambic, Porter, Pilsner, Ales.  Pairs well with German Noble type hops.
  • Grower notes: notably slower to break dormancy than most, a good climber, shows good resistance to mildews.  36” minimum in row spacing.  Tolerant of many  soil types and has a superior root system compared to many other hops. One of the easier hops to grow and a steady performer.  Possible candidate for organic production. Susceptible to PM.
  • Trellis types: 12 or 14’x 42’ even spacing or cluster style
  • Fully rooted plant - NOT a rhizome. A rhizome is a part of a hop plant's root system that grows horizontally underground putting out shoots.
